Dance

• Creative Movement (age 2-3)

Your child will learn the building blocks of dance: balance, coordination, spatial awareness, and rhythm. This fun 30 minute class offers joyful interaction with other toddlers as they participate in developmentally-appropriate exercises that follow a creative theme. Parents remain in the class with the students.

This 45 minute class will introduce students to classical ballet technique through the creative process of learning dance through stories. In this imaginative environment students will learn body awareness, balance, coordination, sequencing, and rhythm as they develop their fine and gross motor skills within a basic ballet-based vocabulary.

Students will master the fundamentals of ballet technique including stretching, posture, balance, and positions and will learn footwork at an age-appropriate level. Musicality and individual artistic expression are heavily emphasized in these classes.

• Jazz II (ages 12+)

Jazz dance is an exciting and ever-evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, life, and passion. This class fuses elements of classical jazz technique and hip-hop and explores movements such as body isolations, turns, leaps, and more.

In this class, students will learn the foundations of musical theatre dance, including body awareness, coordination, and musicality, which draw heavily from ballet and jazz technique. Students will have the opportunity to learn various styles of musical theatre dance through learning original choreography from a variety of musical theatre shows. In addition, students learn how to prepare for an audition. This class is being offered at a beginner level starting at age 8.

Shoes: Black or tan jazz shoes. Tap shoes may be required for some choreography.
